Skin Care Myth and Truth

Dr Kim Nichols, Avon’s board-certified dermatologist, clears up common misconceptions and gives us the real story. As seen in Avon Campaign 3 2018 brochure.

Myth: If you see sagging skin, it’s too late to do anything about it

Truth: It’s never too late to firm the look of sagging skin, and you could do it at home.

Anew Clinical ThermaFirm Face Lifting Cream has a special formula that visibly tightens skin. Women have reported seeing great results.   A customer favorite, online reviews have rated ThermaFirm an average of 4.2 out of 5 stars as of 2/1/18

I have many of my personal customers who always stock up when it is on sale so they never run out.

Myth: You don’t need to wear SPF on a cloudy day.

Truth: You need to protect your skin with SPF daily, rain or shine. Because UV rays are always present. Yes, they even penetrate clouds.

Skinvincible Day Lotion has Broad Spectrum SPF 50, Avon’s highest level of SPF   This customer favorite gets 4.6 out of 5 stars from our online reviewers as of 2/1/18

My husband uses this day lotion and he likes it because it is very lightweight and he sunburns easily so the high SPF is a must.

Myth: The same moisturizer can be used for your face and eyes.

Truth: The skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of your face, so it requires a special treatment for that delicate area.

Anew Clinical Eye Lift Pro is so specialized that it has a separate gel and cream for the needs of the upper and lower lids.

This longtime customer favorite gets 4.4 out of 5 stars from our online reviewers as of 2/1/18

I use this myself and I love it because I need a moisturizer for my upper eyelid but eye creams are too heavy and cause my eyes to water.  The upper eye gel is lightweight but moisturizes well. And the under-eye cream gives the extra moisture I need for my under-eye area

Myth: Scrubbing longer and harder makes exfoliation more effective

Truth: Scrubbing too long or too hard could irritate your skin.

For gentle exfoliation use the textured side of the Anew Clinical Retexturizing Peel pad for 30 seconds to a minute in gentle circular motions.

Online reviewers have given the Retexturizing Peel 4.7 out of 5 stars as of 2/1/18

I have sensitive skin so over-exfoliating can easily leave my skin red and raw, but the Retexturizing Peel twice a week gives me great results without the irritation.

Myth: You’ll inherit your mom’s wrinkles.

Truth: Genes play a part, but so can you. You can minimize the look of wrinkles by avoiding too much sun, not smoking, and moisturizing daily.

For extra help, try Anew Clinical Advanced Wrinkle Corrector. 9 out of 10 women showed improvement in the look of wrinkles.
