Get the Best Fit for Your Clothing

Ordering clothing online can be tricky. Even if you are sure of your size, the style may not be the best fit for your body.  Knowing not only your measurements, but also what body shape you have can help you get the best fit and pick the perfect piece or a whole outfit every time.

Know Your Shape

The Apple is widest around the middle and bust, and broader through the shoulders.

 look for:
A V-neck to bring focus to the bust
Empire waist to conceal a thicker torso
Flared jeans to balance the silhouette
A shoe with a little height for a longer, leaner look

The Hourglass has a defined midsection with curvy bust and hips

 look for:
A V-neck to flatter a fuller bust
Contrast band to draw attention to waistline
A-line hemline to accentuate a small waist
T-strap style shoe creates a sleek line to get the best fit.

The Pear has hips wider than the bust with a slim neck and narrow shoulders

 look for:
Draped neck to add volume around the shoulders
Longer length for coverage
Skinny jeans elongate the leg, combined with loafer to slim the ankles for a better fit.

The Rectangle is slightly smaller at the waist than at the bust and has relatively slim arms, legs and bottom

 look for:
Tapered waist to emphasize the waistline
Handkerchief hem
Neutral shoes to elongate the leg
Higher heels to create a shapelier silhouette, helping to get the best fit.

Choose Your Size

Fit tips

  • Measure around the fullest/largest part of the 3 key areas: bust, waist and hips.
  • If one area is bigger than another, consider the clothing type, style and silhouette to get the best fit.

For example, if the measurements are Medium for the bust and waist and Large for the hips:
– For pants, which are fitted around the hips, order the Large
– For a dress that is fitted on top and flows from the waist, order the Medium

  •  Avon Studio 1886 fashions fit true to the body measurements and size chart. They’re designed to fit with ease so there’s no need to “size up” to get a good fit.
