Spotlight on Cica

Skin Care Ingredient Spotlight ~ Cica

Cica is a skincare ingredient that’s been getting a lot of attention in recent years. Let’s take a look at what it is and why you may want to include it in your skin care regimen

What is Cica?

Centella asiatica, also known as Cica, is a perennial plant native to the wetlands of Asia that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. In recent years, it has gained popularity in skincare thanks to its soothing and healing properties. Cica is more than just a trendy beauty ingredient—it’s known to relieve irritated skin, strengthen the skin barrier and gently moisturize. In fact, Cica was named “tiger grass” after tigers were discovered rolling in it to heal their wounds.

Who Should Use Cica?

Cica is great for anyone with dry to extra dry and damaged skin. It’s also suitable for sensitive skin. Plus, Centella asiatica is a good choice if you’re looking to relieve irritated skin and/or strengthen your skin’s moisture barrier.

How can I add Cica to my skin care routine?

The great thing about Centella asiatica being such a trendy ingredient is that it can be found in several different skin care formats so it’s very easy to add to your current regimen.

The two most common ways to use Centella asiatica in your skin care routine is with a cream or serum like Avon X The Face Shop’s Dr Belmeur Advanced Cica Recovery Cream and Dr Belmeur Cica Peptite Ampoule.

Dr Belmeur Cica Peptite Ampoule and Advaced Cica Recovery Cream

Dr Belmeur Cica Peptite Ampoule

Dr. Belmeur Cica with Peptides: an exclusive ampoule formulated with Centella asiatica to help protect and heal, plus peptides to help revitalize and firm. This concentrated blend is made for tired skin as it helps to energize, smooth and firm. Use after cleansing and before moisturizing (it pairs perfectly with any Cica Cream!).

Dr Belmeur Advanced Cica Recovery Cream

Dr. Belmeur Advanced Cica Recovery Cream treats extra-dry and damaged skin. This exclusive formula both protects and heals with strengthening ceramide to help restore moisture barrier. Plus Centella Asiatica Extract to relieve irritated skin, strengthen skin’s barrier and gently moisturizes. Use AM and PM as necessary. Use on cleansed skin, following any treatments and as the last step of moisturizer. For AM use, follow with SPF. We recommend Anew Hydra Fusion Daily Beauty Defense Cream SPF 50.

Masks for even more…

Sheet masks are a great way to give your skin a dose of concentrated ingredients.
